Mini Dental Implants / Dentures
Dentures are a wonderful solution to replace missing, but removable dentures can slip and create discomfort. As an alternative, Dr. Kakkar also offers implant-supported dentures with mini dental implants, that stabilizes teeth and encourages a more active lifestyle. This procedure takes a little over an hour.
Losing all of your natural teeth, whether from dental or gum disease, accident, or injury, present day-to-day challenges that others take for granted, such as eating and speaking. Dentures can replace what's missing, restoring your health, and ultimately, your smile. Without teeth to support them, facial muscles can sag making you appear older. Dentures provide internal support for a more youthful look, and the ability to eat what you like and speak with confidence.
Today's technology allows us to create a smile that is natural and confident. A denture doesn't have to look like a denture any more. High quality denture teeth are as close to your natural teeth as can be, thus allowing you to smile with complete confidence. Dr. Kakkar can choose the shape, size, and color of teeth, potentially giving you the smile you’ve always wanted.
Immediate dentures are placed at the same time that teeth are extracted, and may require additional adjustments after the healing process as it can take months for the bone and tissue to stabilize after tooth extractions.
After the passage of time, approximately 6 months, the denture will have to be re-based, relined or a new denture will have to be made. Rebasing or the making of a new denture involves additional time and expense to the patient. Before this can be done the denture has to be worn by using denture adhesives to help hold the denture in place.
Perhaps the most important advantage of immediate dentures is that you never need to appear in public without any teeth and when immediate dentures are inserted, they act as a bandage and help to reduce bleeding.
However, like any other procedure, the insertion of immediate dentures does have limitations, of which you should be aware. There are some people for whom immediate dentures are not advisable because of their general health or specific oral problems.
For patients only missing a few teeth, a partial denture, commonly referred to simply as a partial, consists of multiple teeth on a gum colored base. The teeth are not in a row, but rather spread across the base to fit like a puzzle with your existing teeth. A partial is normally secured with clasps, but unlike a bridge, a partial is removable.
Dr. Kakkar may recommend implant-supported dentures to offer enhanced stability to your smile. With implant-supported dentures, Dr. Kakkar places two to four small implants in your jawbone and adds support fixtures to your new or existing denture base, allowing the denture to snap on to the implants. Patients can enjoy a secure fit without worrying about slippage or messy adhesives.
Are Implant Dentures Right for Me?
Implant dentures with mini dental implants is a minimally-invasive, one-visit procedure.
