Soft-Tissue & Bone Grafts
Soft-tissue grafts are performed to stop gum recession and to improve the esthetics of your gum line by covering the exposed root of your teeth. During this procedure, Dr. Kakkar takes gum tissue from your palate, or other donor source, to cover the exposed root. A soft-tissue graft reduces further recession and bone loss, which may prevent tooth sensitivity and other dental health complications.
To reverse the damage caused by periodontal disease, trauma, or ill-fitting dentures, Dr. Kakkar can also perform a bone graft. This procedure can augment bone in certain areas to permit implant placement, to enhance the comfort and fit of a removable prosthesis, or to improve the appearance of a missing tooth site within the smile zone.
